I don’t think I’ve discussed this here. And I won’t really be doing it now, but I feel some awareness needs to be raised about this acronym.
I first found out about it when my hubby read a post by Seanan McGuire. It’s an acronym that I feel is a huge step forward toward something that is inclusive of anyone who is not straight and/or cisgendered. It’s not perfect, as Seanan said, but it’s a lot closer.
Q – Queer/Questioning
U – Undecided
I – Intersex
L – Lesbian
T – Transgender/Transsexual
B – Bisexual
A – Asexual
G – Gay
It’s a lot more inclusive than LGBT and you can say it like a word! It’s come up frequently in my classes and many people hadn’t heard about it. I wanted to increase knowledge about this awesome acronym.
